Celebs & Movie Premiers

So if trying to find your favorite celebrity on the streets isn’t working out for you, and there is no way you can afford to buy a concert ticket to one of their concerts…how on earth are you supposed to meet them?!!

Well if you live in London, Los Angeles, New York, or any other major city…it’s called MOVIE PREMIER.

I watch a mass amount of youtubers on YouTube and I was lucky enough to see all of my favorites here in London. Two of the guys I watch (Caspar Lee & Joe Sugg) came out with a movie that premiered last night in Leicester Square and they hosted a red carpet event for their movie. I obviously went because I knew all of their friends and family who I also love on YouTube would be there. This was one of my favorite things I have done in London and the best part was it was FREE. Red carpets are free to go stand in and wait to see/meet your favorite celebs!

Also, if your favorite celebrity is a musician, model, or actor, there are so many opportunities to be a seat filler at award shows or entering to win free tickets to award /talk shows. 1iota is an amazing website that gives you access to free events!

Here are some pictures I took of some of my favorite YouTubers!

Deck the Halls for FREE in London

Christmas is just around the corner and what better place to celebrate this wonderful holiday than in London! It is a little strange for my American self because back in the states we do not truly deck the halls until Thanksgiving passes. Here in England, Thanksgiving is not celebrated therefore once Halloween is done and over with, Christmas comes to you in full force. The people of England know how to make their city as festive as possible and they allow individuals to enjoy it with several free events.

Winter Wonderland

Winter in Southbank Centre

Listed above are only a couple of free attractions that London has to offer for a family fun Christmas experience! If you love looking at christmas lights (fairy lights) and decked out christmas trees, I would highly recommend hopping on the tube or taking a bus down to the streets that have annual lighting ceremonies. The streets usually have concerts, entertainment, and lots of christmas lights to look up at. It is absolutely free to do and a great way to spend a night out with friends and family.

Another amazing event to go to if you are in London during the months of December and January is Winter Wonderland! It is London’s biggest christmas fair located In Hyde Park. It opens November 20th until January 3rd and is entirely free to get into. You will have to pay to go on any rides and buy food/drinks, but if you just want to walk around the park and people watch you are more than welcome to! This will be my first year in attendance and am so excited to see what the hype is all about! I have heard incredible things about this event so I will blog about it once I experience it myself!

I hope you all have a great holiday and please comment if you attend any of these events to let me know how they went!

Fall Break but broke…HELP

So this past week a group of my friends and I conquered 5 countries in just 10 days for our fall break. We started to plan our flights back in September and finished booking our hostels in early October. I knew for a fact I wanted to go to Greece and a couple other countries but I also knew I had a budget to withhold so I had to limit my spending. The final two places I decided to go to was Greece and Barcelona. The direct flight from both countries was super expensive so I had to break up the flight into 2 layovers in Athens and Rome to make the flights substantially less expensive.

  • To make traveling a lot cheaper I would highly recommend purchasing layover flights because most of the time it costs your ticket in half!
  • London-Santorini-Athens-Rome-Barcelona-Switzerland-London  (The non bolded items are layover flights excluding London)

Cheap tips for Greece & Barcelona

1.) Greece: I would definetely recommend renting ATV’s to get around for a cheap amount of money. It is only 20 euros to rent for the entire day and 10 to fill up gas,Screen Shot 2015-11-08 at 11.02.08 PM plus you can literally get around the whole island in 45 minutes and still have plenty of gas left. They are a little tricky in the beginning if you have never rode one before but you get the hang of it right away!

2.) FOOD: Karterados (the town we stayed in) had the BEST gyros for only 2 Euros!! I have never had a gyros before and for those of you who haven’t, it is basically a pita filled with chicken, tzatziki, french fries, onion, tomato, and lettuce. It was the first time I had it and it was so good I had it 2 nights in a row (no shame).

There is also “the best cafe in Santorini” stated by a local, and it has lots of donuts, cakes, croissants, coffee, and the best chocolate milk you will ever drink in your lifetime.

Barcelona: To get around here, we basically walked everywhere we wanted to go. The only time we rode the bus was from the airport to our hostel, and we took the subway once to a church because it would have been a 45 minute walk. It is super easy to walk around here and you get to walk off all of the alcohol and crappy food consumed on your journey while looking at amazing sights, so it is basically a win-win!

Nightlife: It does get really expensive going out every night during vacation and drinks do add up so my suggestion to those who want to save a buck or two and still want to go out is two words… PUB CRAWL! Most hostels or tour groups have a thing called a pub/bar crawl and it is a group of people who pay about 12 euros to go out to 3 or 4 bars and get free entry/shots. The hostel I stayed at offered a pub crawl every night at 11 o’clock and it included free shots at all of the bars and sometimes a free drink.

Hope this helped for those of you traveling to these countries!
